RunIT — Worker Agreement (Independent Service Provider)
Effective date: 10 September 2026 · Version: 1
This Worker Agreement ("Agreement") is between RunIT (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/475840/07) ("RunIT", "we") and you, the independent service provider ("Worker", "you"). It applies when you register as a Worker and offer or perform Services through the RunIT Platform. It must be read with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
By registering as a Worker you agree to this Agreement.
1. Your status: independent contractor, not an employee
1.1 You are an independent contractor running your own business. This Agreement does not create an employment relationship, partnership, agency or joint venture between you and RunIT.
1.2 You and RunIT specifically acknowledge and agree that:
- (a) you decide when, whether and how often you make yourself available and which Bookings you accept or decline — there are no shift or availability obligations;
- (b) you control how you perform the Services, using your own skills, methods, tools and equipment;
- (c) you may provide the same or similar services to others, including through other platforms or your own clients, and you are not economically dependent on RunIT;
- (d) you are not subject to RunIT's control or supervision in performing the work itself. RunIT provides the technology and marketplace and handles payment. The only standards RunIT sets are trust, safety and security minimums — for example identity verification, a zero-tolerance rule on theft, dishonesty, violence, harassment or intoxication on the job, and compliance with the law. RunIT does not set performance, output, productivity or workmanship standards, does not instruct you on method, sequence or technique, and does not supervise, appraise or discipline your work;
- (e) you are not entitled to employee benefits (such as leave, UIF, overtime, or a minimum wage from RunIT), because you are not an employee;
- (f) you may send a substitute (right of substitution). You are not required to perform a Booking personally. You may send a qualified assistant, partner or subcontractor of your choosing to complete an accepted Booking, provided that person has first completed the same verification you did — the identity, police clearance and referral requirements in clause 2.1. You remain responsible to the Customer and to RunIT for the Booking and for your substitute's conduct, and you pay your substitute yourself. RunIT's verification requirement is a safety control only and is not a right of approval over who works for you.
1.3 You are responsible for your own registration, licensing and compliance where the law requires it for your trade (for example, certified electrical or plumbing work), and for holding any qualifications, permits or insurance appropriate to your Services.
2. Registration and verification
2.1 To become a Worker you must be 18 or older, legally entitled to work in South Africa, and complete all of the following before RunIT will activate you and send you any work:
- (a) identity verification — your South African ID number, a photograph of your government-issued ID document, and a selfie, checked against each other by RunIT;
- (b) a police clearance certificate that you obtain from the South African Police Service (in practice via an accredited agency such as PostNet or Huru) and upload to RunIT for review. You pay for this yourself; the app shows the current typical cost;
- (c) a contactable referral; and
- (d) your express consent, given in the app, to RunIT processing the above.
2.1A Your clearance certificate must stay current. It is valid on the Platform for 12 months. We notify you 30 days before it expires, and on the day it expires you stop receiving new Bookings until you upload a current one. Bookings you have already accepted are not affected, and your wallet balance remains yours. This is an administrative lapse, not a finding against you, and your account is not suspended.
2.2 You consent to these checks and warrant that all information you provide is true, accurate and current. RunIT may decline, suspend or revoke verification only on defined trust-and-safety grounds — a failed or lapsed check, suspected fraud, a credible safety complaint, or a legal requirement. Any such decision is subject to the appeals process in clause 6.3.
2.2A What RunIT does not do. RunIT does not run its own criminal-record searches and does not check the National Register for Sex Offenders. Clause 2.1(b) is a certificate you obtain and we review; it reflects the position at its issue date.
2.3 You must keep your profile, services offered, pricing and availability up to date.
3. Offering and performing Services
3.1 You choose which Services to offer, set your own prices, and choose which Bookings to accept. Your price for a Service must fall within a band around RunIT's published guide price for that Service — currently half to one-and-a-half times the guide price. The app tells you the permitted range if you go outside it. Services priced by quote are not subject to the band.
3.1A One trade per account. A RunIT Pro account offers Services from a single category — the first Service you add fixes it. If you want to offer a second trade you open a separate account. This is not an arbitrary limit: the daily job limit and the time allowed for a job in clause 3.1B are set per trade, and an account mixing trades could not be held to either. If you stop offering every Service in your category, the account is released and you may choose a different one.
3.1B When you can be booked. For each trade RunIT publishes, and the Platform enforces:
- operating hours — the earliest a job may start and the latest it may finish;
- a typical job length, used to work out when you are free again;
- a minimum gap between jobs, reserved for you to travel, rest and eat; and
- a maximum number of jobs per day, which is calculated from the three above — the most whole jobs that fit in the day once the gap between them is paid for — rather than set arbitrarily.
These are ceilings, not targets. You are never required to work up to them, and no consequence follows from working less. The current figures for your trade are shown in the app.
3.1C Your own hours are enforced. The working hours you set in the app now decide when Bookings can reach you: no Booking can be made outside them. Previously they were a statement of preference that nothing acted on. Set them to hours you can genuinely work, and change them whenever you like. Hours you set outside your trade's operating window are permitted but cannot receive Bookings, and the app tells you when that is the case.
3.1D While you are on a job you cannot be booked again, including for the time your job is expected to run over. You become available again when the job is closed. You may also pause all work at any time from the Today screen; while paused you receive no Bookings at all, including ones already scheduled for a future day.
3.2 When you accept a Booking, a service contract arises directly between you and the Customer. You — not RunIT — are responsible for performing the Service.
3.3 You must perform Services:
- (a) competently, safely and professionally, to the standard a reasonable customer expects;
- (b) honestly and on time, honouring accepted Bookings and communicating promptly through the app if plans change;
- (c) lawfully, complying with all applicable laws, by-laws, health-and-safety requirements and industry standards; and
- (d) respectfully, treating Customers, their households and property with care and courtesy, without discrimination, harassment or misconduct.
3.4 Because you may enter Customers' homes, you must uphold high standards of trust and safety. Theft, dishonesty, intoxication on the job, violence, harassment or endangering any person will result in removal from the Platform and may be reported to the police.
4. Payment, fees and payouts
4.0 You appoint RunIT to collect payment for you. You appoint RunIT as your limited agent for the sole purpose of accepting payment of the job price from Customers on your behalf, and you authorise RunIT to receive that payment, to deduct the Platform Fee, and to hold and release the balance as set out in this Agreement and the Refund Policy. This agency is limited to collecting payment. RunIT does not perform the Services, is not your agent for any other purpose, and this appointment creates no employment, partnership or joint venture between us.
4.0.1 What this appointment means in practice is that a Customer's obligation to pay you for a Booking is discharged when the Customer pays RunIT — the Customer then owes you nothing further for that Booking, and RunIT owes you the balance of that payment under clause 4.2. You may not seek payment for that Booking from the Customer directly.
4.0.2 You may end this appointment by closing your account. It takes effect once all open Bookings are completed and all amounts due to you have been paid out.
4.1 The Customer pays the job price through the Platform, only after you have accepted the Booking. RunIT receives that payment as your collection agent under clause 4.0; it settles into RunIT's own merchant account and is held against the Booking — it is not paid to you until the Customer confirms completion, or auto-release occurs per the Refund Policy. Held amounts are not kept in a separate trust or escrow account — they sit in RunIT's merchant account alongside RunIT's other funds, and what you hold is a contractual claim against RunIT, recorded in RunIT's ledger, rather than an interest in a segregated fund. If RunIT were to become insolvent, that claim would rank alongside those of RunIT's other creditors. RunIT is not a bank or an FSCA-licensed financial institution and does not lend or invest money held against a Booking.
4.2 RunIT charges a Platform Fee (commission) of 15% of the job price for use of the Platform. The Fee is deducted, and the balance is credited to your in-app wallet. The Fee percentage is fixed for each Booking when the Customer creates it, so a later change to our commission never alters a job you have already accepted.
4.3 Cancellation fee. If a Customer cancels after you have accepted and after they have paid, you receive the flat R50 cancellation fee out of the amount held, and RunIT takes no commission on it — it is compensation for the slot you held, not platform revenue. If you cancel, the Customer is refunded in full and you receive nothing.
4.4 You must add your bank account before you can be paid. RunIT stores the account holder name, bank, branch code and account number you provide, so that payouts can be made. A payout request is refused until an account is on file — we will not reserve money that nobody can send. Access to these details inside RunIT is restricted to the staff who actually make payments.
4.5 You may request payout of your available wallet balance at any time. Payouts are made by electronic funds transfer, processed manually by RunIT — they are not instant, and are not on an automatic schedule. When you request one, the amount is immediately reserved against your wallet so it cannot be spent twice, and it is marked as sent once the transfer has been made, with the payment reference recorded.
4.6 You are responsible for providing correct banking details. RunIT is not liable for payouts delayed or misdirected due to incorrect details you supplied. If you change your bank account, we record that the change was made (and the last four digits only) as a security measure.
4.7 Wallet holds: RunIT may temporarily freeze payouts where fraud is suspected, a dispute is open, or as required by law, and will release funds once the matter is resolved. If your account is suspended, your wallet is frozen and no payout can be requested until the matter is resolved.
5. Taxes
5.1 You are solely responsible for your own tax affairs, including registering with SARS where required, declaring your income, and paying income tax and any VAT you are obliged to charge and remit. RunIT does not deduct employees' tax (PAYE) because you are not an employee.
5.2 RunIT may provide records of your earnings for your own tax purposes and may report information where required by law.
6. Ratings, quality and standing
6.1 Customers rate and review you after completed Bookings. Your rating, acceptance rate, completion history and conduct affect your standing on the Platform.
6.2 Consistently low ratings, high cancellation/no-show rates, verified complaints, or breaches of this Agreement may lead to reduced visibility, suspension or removal from the marketplace. These are marketplace-standing consequences, not employment discipline: RunIT does not warn, appraise, performance-manage or discipline you, and does not instruct you to change how you work.
6.3 Appeals. Before any rating-based or standing-based deactivation takes effect (other than an immediate suspension on serious safety or fraud grounds), and within 14 days of any deactivation:
- (a) we will tell you the specific reason and the data it is based on;
- (b) you may submit a written response, evidence, or the context behind the ratings, to support@runitt.co.za;
- (c) your appeal is reviewed by someone who was not involved in the original decision, and we will give you a reasoned written outcome within 10 business days; and
- (d) if the outcome is in your favour your listing is reinstated with your standing restored.
This is a marketplace appeals process, not an internal disciplinary or grievance procedure, and it does not create an employment relationship. It does not limit your right to approach a court or any other body you are entitled to approach by law.
7. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- (a) take Customers off-platform to avoid fees after being introduced through RunIT, or solicit Platform Customers for off-platform work. This restriction lasts twelve (12) months from your last interaction with that Customer on the Platform, after which you are free to work with them directly. It does not restrict you from working for anyone you did not meet through RunIT, or from offering your services on any other platform at any time;
- (b) create false Bookings, manipulate ratings, or commit any fraud;
- (c) misrepresent your identity, qualifications or verification status;
- (d) discriminate against, harass, threaten or endanger any person;
- (e) let another person perform a Booking under your account unless they have cleared trust and safety verification as your substitute under clause 1.2(f) — you may always use a verified substitute, but never an unverified stranger in a Customer's home;
- (f) breach the security or integrity of the Platform.
8. Insurance and liability
8.1 You are responsible for arranging any insurance appropriate to your Services (for example public liability or tools cover). RunIT does not provide you with insurance.
8.1A Mandatory insurance for high-risk Services. For high-risk manual-labour categories — including electrical work, plumbing, gas, roofing, and structural or major installation repairs — you must hold active personal public liability insurance of at least ZAR 1 000 000, and it is a strict condition of listing in those categories that you:
- (a) upload proof of active cover before your listing goes live;
- (b) keep the cover current, and upload renewed proof before it lapses; and
- (c) tell us immediately if the cover is cancelled, lapses or is materially reduced.
If your proof of cover lapses, your listing in those categories is suspended until valid cover is provided. This is a safety and consumer-protection condition of access to those categories; it does not make RunIT your insurer, and RunIT is not a party to your insurance contract.
8.2 You are liable for your own work, including any loss, damage or injury caused by your acts or omissions while performing a Service. You indemnify RunIT against any claim, loss or reasonable cost arising from your Services, your breach of this Agreement, or your unlawful conduct, except to the extent caused by RunIT's own unlawful conduct or gross negligence.
8.3 To the maximum extent permitted by law, RunIT's liability to you is limited as set out in the Terms of Service. RunIT is not liable to you for lost earnings arising from Platform downtime, Booking availability, account suspension applied in good faith, or Customer conduct.
9. Data protection
9.1 RunIT processes your personal information — including your ID number and ID document, your selfie, your police clearance certificate, and your banking details — in accordance with the Privacy Policy and POPIA. You consent to the processing necessary to verify you, operate the Platform, pay you, and meet legal obligations.
9.2 Your ID document and selfie are special personal information under POPIA, which is why the app asks for your consent separately before you upload them. They are used to confirm you are who you say you are, and to prevent fraud. They are not visible to Customers or to other Workers, and inside RunIT they are readable only by staff carrying out verification.
9.3 The referral you provide is somebody else's personal information. By giving us a referral's name and contact number you confirm that you have their permission to share it with us for the purpose of checking your references. Tell them you have done so.
9.4 What Customers see. Your name, photograph, rating, reviews and any portfolio images you upload are shown publicly to Customers browsing the Platform. Your ID number, documents, clearance certificate, banking details and physical address are not.
10. Suspension and termination
10.1 You may stop working and deactivate your Worker profile at any time, subject to completing accepted Bookings and settling any amounts owed. Earned wallet funds remain payable to you (subject to clause 4.5).
10.2 RunIT may suspend or terminate your access where you breach this Agreement, create risk to users, fail verification, or where required by law or fraud-prevention. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give you notice and an opportunity to respond.
10.3 On termination, we release any funds properly owing to you, less amounts you owe us, subject to open disputes and legal requirements.
11. Changes
RunIT may update this Agreement and the Platform Fee. We will give reasonable notice of material changes (including fee changes) through the app. Continuing to work after changes take effect means you accept them.
12. General
12.1 This Agreement is governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
12.2 If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
12.3 This Agreement, with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, is the whole agreement between you and RunIT about your work as a Worker.
Acknowledgement. By registering as a Worker, you confirm that you have read and understood this Agreement, that you are an independent contractor and not an employee of RunIT, and that you agree to its terms.
